WSWC has identified and will be developing the following contexts for their NCCP Coaching Program. Each context will address the specific coaching skills necessary to meet the needs of the range of athletes found within towed-water sports. Each context will consist of an evaluation that will allow the coaches to demonstrate their competency.
In its entirety, WSWC's coaching program will produce coaches that can address the needs of recreational, beginner, novice, competitive, and high performance participants.
1) Rip n Ride Foundations
Recognizing the value that Canada's 1.2 million volunteer coaches bring to our communities, CAC and its partners announced the launch of the NCCP Community Sport - Initiation context in October 2004. Often the parents of participants, volunteer coaches usually hold down full-time jobs, so they have limited time for training. The program focuses on essentials over two days, placing emphasis on safety, fun, ethics, multi disciplines, boat driving and values beyond competition. This course helps camps, schools, and volunteer coaches foster love of the sport, promote participation and teach basic skills to beginners of all ages through a variety of activities and disciplines.

2)Rip n Ride - Build the Skills
Coaches will work with participants of all ages, with little or no formal towed water sports experience. The purpose of the Technical Instruction program is to create an understanding of the basic techniques and skills of the towed water sports. Workshops will help the instructors understand and teach the basic skills of the sport to participants. Workshops completed in this program also count towards certification in the Competition Introduction Coach Program.
This context has recently been completed by WSWC and is now being delivered through the Provincial Water Ski and Wakeboard organizations. Please contact your PSO for workshop details. To view the workshops that contributed to certification in this context please see the diagram below.
3) Rip n Ride - Learn to Compete
The goals of the Competition - Introduction context are fun, fitness, fundamentals, and performance at regional or provincial competitions as well as the consolidation of basic skills of the sport. Coaches in this context will learn how to design a seasonal plan for their athletes, basic mental training skills and how to prepare their athlete for competition.
Following completion of all training, a coach can choose to become certified in the Competition - Introduction context through an evaluation process managed and coordinated by Waterski and Wakeboard Canada.
This context will be ready soon by WSWC and will be delivered through the Provincial Water Ski and Wakeboard organizations. Please contact your PSO for workshop details. To view the workshops that contributed to certification in this context please see the diagram below

4) Competition - Development and High Performance Programs
The Coaching Association of Canada and its partners are working towards launching the first series of multi-sport coach training modules for this context in the near future. WSWC will be working to develop this context in the future.
