SkiAbility Clinic

SkiAbility Overview

Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada officially launched SkiAbility in June of 2005. The program focuses on increasing participation in water skiing for persons with a disability, and is the next step in providing more Canadians with the opportunity to enjoy towed water sports.

The program is a comprehensive clinic outreach program, whereby trained SkiAbility clinic facilitators will deliver clinics and lessons to skiers of different ages with different types of disabilities. The intent is to have multiple clinics delivered in different locations in every province across Canada.

A SkiAbility Clinic is defined as a single assembly focused on increasing participation in towed water sports for persons with a disability.

A SkiAbility Program is defined as an organization (WSWC Recognized Club or School) that offers three (3) or more SkiAbility Clinics within the summer.

Prerequisites to Start a Clinic/Program:

  2. Commitment from a minimum of 6 volunteers
  3. A certified SkiAbility Program Leader must be onsite during all clinic hours
  4. A certified Technical Instructor (Generic) or above must be onsite during all clinic hours
  5. A certified Trained Community Sport Assistant Instructor(s) must be available to fulfill key roles
  6. An end of season (or end of clinic) report must be filed with WSWC outlining the following

    • Number of participants
